1. Most of the TOMS I get to customize are my own ideas—paisley, burlap coffee bag, or geometric flower patterns. So its a lot of fun when I get requests for a different design, like these very glittery, youthful, super girly rock star TOMS! Keep the custom requests coming!

  2. My trip to Israel last month was truly inspiring. More than anything it made me realize the importance of not taking life for granted, that we should be taking every chance we get to break from routine and experience new things. New countries, places, hobbies, activities, foods, people, EVERYTHING!
I’m just starting to work this inspiration into some new prints. When I want to remind myself to do something I write it down and hang it up in my studio. So I figured the best way to promote these motivating messages is as prints that people can hang on their wall to remind them every day to explore and experience new things.
I’ve just started this series, and first is the “go explore” watercolor above. Not yet available in my shop, I was just excited about it and wanted to share it before I was quite ready to list it!

  4. After changing my mind, many many times, I finally settled on a Save the Date design for my wedding in October!

I knew I wanted a bright square envelope, something that let guests know this was something fun before even opening the envelope.

The entire design is hand drawn then digitally printed. The unevenness of the hand drawn lines and eclectic combination of typefaces really compliment our vision of a handmade wedding.

Wrap around labels were the last piece I designed. I admit, at first I had no clue what I wanted the labels to look like, but then the chevron pattern from the back of our save the date cards worked perfectly! It accidentally referenced the red & blue diagonal lines from an old air mail package, which I think is really fun! Honestly, my favorite part of this whole piece is probably how the colorful label looks on the bright orange envelope.

This design is also now available in my Etsy shop for custom save the date orders. All information and colors will be customized to your event! Contact me through Etsy or email to get started: jessie.a.katz@gmail.com

  6. Color of the Week, Week #5

This week we’re going all the way… neon yellow! Bright colors and neons are so much fun, and they’re everywhere right now. So go buy some yellow paint (or yellow beads, fabric, or just use that yellow highlighter you have laying around) and get inspired!

The below collection includes photography from Ara 133 Photography, faux leather feather earrings from Love Sexton, felted soap from SoFino, and thank you cards from Perch Paper Company. See this full Etsy treasury for more neon yellow inspiration.

    Technical Details:
    Pantone 803 U
    RGB: 255 255 0
    HTML: FFFF00
    CMYK: 6 0 97 0

Why a color of the week?

Sometimes we all get stuck in a rut, using the same colors, same fonts, and same style over and over again. There’s no problem with defining your signature style, but experimenting with a little variety can help get you thinking differently & creatively!

Every week I post a color I wouldn’t normally use. Inspired by the season, weather, fashion trends, etc. I’ll challenge myself to integrate it into a new project, and I encourage you to do the same!
